The power plants include Xekaman 1 and Xekaman Xanxay which are 75km away from Việt Nam.

The Xekanman 1 project is part of the energy cooperation program between the two Governments and of great importance for socio-economic development in the southern Laos.

The Xekaman 1 Electricity Co. Ltd, the Việt-Laos Power Joint Stock Company and Laos Electricity Corporation will jointly implement the US $441.6 million-projects.

When their construction finished by 2015, the two power plants will provide Lao localities with 20% of their total capacity of 322MW, and the rest would be exported to Việt Nam./.
