The Department of Information and Communication of Hà Nội has for the first time made public the rating of IT application in state agencies and offices in the city.

According to Mr. Phạm Quốc Bản, Head of the Hà Nội Department of Information and Communications, the rating will help each state agency assess its own IT performance in comparison with practical requirements so as to work out more proper IT application plans in the coming years.

The Customs Department, State Treasury and Department of Planning and Investment are among the top units in the rating. Meanwhile, Tây Hồ and Sơn Tây districts earn high scores for the implementation of infrastructure deployment and policies for IT application.

Mr. Bản added that shared software applications in offices in Hà Nội have been proven effective, thereby creating solid foundation for the “E-Government” plan for 2011-2015.

The city strives to provide broadband internet access for all public officials, promote the use of e-mails in all public offices, and have 80% of public records and documents managed and exchanged electronically by 2015.

In addition, Hà Nội aims for the entire leadership and administrative bodies in Hà Nội to excel computer skills, and all administrative procedures to be processed online to increase the transparency of administrative work.

A ceremony to present awards to the top ones in the IT application rating will be held in Hà Nội late September.
