Discussion of cooperation with JNES in 2012

From 5 to 6 January 2012, the Japan Nuclear Energy Safety Organization (JNES) delegation came to visit and work with the Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety (VARANS). Vice Minister of Science and Technology Le Dinh Tien who is also Director General of VARANS chaired two working days with the delegation.

The main discussion between VARANS and JNES focused on cooperation on human resources training and regulatory documents building in 2012.

Recently, JNES has organized the two-month Basic Training for 16 VARANS staffs in Japan. The Basic Training provided trainees knowledge as a whole system of nuclear power plant through lectures of Japanese leading experts in nuclear power, simulator training and technical visit at NPP. At the first working day, JNES appreciated effort and results of trainees and also stressed some areas to be more emphasized for improve the next training courses: safety analysis as one of the safety assessment process, I&C system, dose evaluation during siting, leaning using Plant/Equipment model, seismic analysis,…

Two sides also discussed on cooperation on regulatory document building. In the last year, JNES supported for guidance documents for NPP that VARANS drafted.

Vice Minister Le Dinh Tien expressed sincere thanks to support of Japan in general and JNES in specific for VARANS in human resources training and regulatory documents building. He also said this discussion will provide better results for VARANS-JNES cooperation in 2012, contributing to the success of VN-Korea nuclear power development relationship.
