Morning May 30th, 2013, the Provincial Department of Science & Technology of Ba Ria – Vung Tau held Science Council to approve subject “Building model to apply engineering progress to produce pepper in accordance with Global Gap Standard and joint venture from production to product consumption in Chau Duc district, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province” headed by Dr.Bui Xuan Khoi (Center for Southern West Fruit trees Research).

Nowadays, trend to produce agriculture safely plays a very important role, many developed countries are paying attention to food safety, particularly European countries. Therefore, agricultural products which are expected to export to these countries must meet Global GAP Standard. Purpose of Global GAP is to increase trust of customers towards safe food through good agricultural practice of manufacturers.

According to Center for Southern West Fruit trees race Research, 95% output of pepper in Vietnam is used for export. Therefore, pepper production under Global GAP standard is very important, playing a decisive role in expanding the market and price of Vietnam pepper. Pepper area of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province is ranked at the 4th level in the country, so local people is directing to clear production to raise productivity, quality and food safety, creating stable output and promoting competitiveness for such products. So, the subject to build model to apply technique progress in pepper production under Global Gap standard in Ba Ria – Vung Tau is very pressing and feasible.
