IAEA offers Vietnam nuclear plant management skills

Experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has shared experience on the management of nuclear power plant project involving in the Engineering-Procurement-Construction (EPC) contract with Vietnamese relevant agencies.

Experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has shared experience on the management of nuclear power plant project involving in the Engineering-Procurement-Construction (EPC) contract with Vietnamese relevant agencies.

At a seminar held in Phan Rang-Thap Cham city of the central coastal province of Ninh Thuan on September 23, the foreign experts analysed the risks and effectiveness brought by the EPC contract, the importance of early appraisal and risk distribution, safety management of nuclear power plant and so on. 

The seminar, a part of the IAEA cooperation technical project, aimed to help Vietnam in building its first nuclear power plant in the province. 

The experts also shared other countries’ experiences on the duties and responsibilities in an EPC contract and lessons learnt from recent nuclear power plants. 

Those from France, Finland and Canada also talked about nuclear insurance, the relations between investors, contractors, consultants and local authorities and the procurement, design appraisal, licensing and construction supervision process.
