They affirmed to closely work to promote the relations more effectively for the sake of both, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the Asia-Pacific and the world.

The two leaders highlighted the importance of maintaining high-ranking delegation exchanges and launching cooperative mechanism and dialogues.

PM Dung proposed the two sides realize effectively high-ranking agreements on economic cooperation, including Viet Nam’s industrialization strategy in the framework of Viet Nam-Japan cooperation.

He suggested Japan assist Viet Nam in restructuring the economy, increasing competitiveness and developing the auxiliary industry and agriculture.

Japan will enhance economic, trade and investment cooperation with Viet Nam, asserted PM Shinzo Abe, adding that Japan will continue its Official Development Assistance provision for Viet Nam in socio-economic development, infrastructure upgrade and response to environmental issues and climate change.

Japan commits to supporting Viet Nam in the Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations, he confirmed.

The two leaders exchanged views on international and regional issues of shared concerns, agreeing to strengthen cooperation at multi-lateral forums and international organizations.

The Japanese PM expressed his concerns about unilateral actions changing the East Sea’s status quo and against the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (COC), advocating related sides to deal with the disputes based on international laws.

He thanked the Vietnamese leaders for their condolences over the case of two Japanese citizens murdered by the Islamic State.

He extended Lunar New Year greetings to PM Dung and Vietnamese people.
