Only the number of foreign investment projects exceeded the plan of year 2008 (planned 22 projects). The total registered capital of 28 projects is USD6,465mil, exceeding 124,6% as compared with the plan of the year.

Vietnam’s first satellite launches services (03/06/2008)

Vietnam’s first telecommunication satellite, Vinasat-1, officially launched its services at the Que Duong ground control centre in Ha Tay province on May 30.

The launch followed Vinasat-1 manufacturer Lockheed Martin of the US formally handing over the satellite to the Vietnamese operator, the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) on May 29.

This year’s report warns that poor people in developing countries will be those most vulnerable to the impact of climate change.
