Vietsovpetro becomes Nam Rong-Doi Moi oil field manager (14/12/2009)

The Vietnam-Russia Petroleum Joint Venture (Vietsovpetro) was appointed manager of the Nam Rong-Doi Moi oil field following a recently-singed joint agreement among six contractors.

The agreement is a legal basis for exploration, development and exploitation, including common operation principles, regulations on responsibility, and obligations and interests of the manager, according to the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam).

Acid rain widely prevalent in Vietnam (07/12/2009)

VietNamNet Bridge - Up to half of the downpours in Vietnam are acid rains caused by air pollution, an environment research center said.

Duong Hong Son, director of the Environment Research Center under the Institute of Hydrometeorology, Science and Environment, cited data from observation centers that said 30-50 percent of rain in Vietnam every year are acid rains which have the pH levels lower than 5.6.

Wind power projects in Vietnam (05/12/2009)

Switzerland-based Aerogie Plus is working on a diesel-wind power plant on the island of Con Dao, in the southern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau, with a total investment of Eur. 20 million. The investor has signed a power purchase contract with local authorities. According to design, this plant will operate with 2 systems: wind turbines and diesel turbines. The construction began in early 2009 and the plant will become operational in 2010.
