“ICT has had a significant contribution to economic growth. It has become a new industry and market. Besides popular names like VNPT, VDC, FPT, there are many businesses that show the country’s abundant potentials. They deserve receiving our awards,” said Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan at the awards ceremony.

The Vietnam ICT Award 2008 for IT Human Resource Training was presented to the FPT University.

The Vietnam Mobile Service Company (VMS), the operator of the MobiFone mobile network and the Vietnam Data Communications Company (VDC), received the awards for Excellent Mobile and Internet Service Providers.

FPT Software took three of the four awards for IT industry, including: the Best Software Company, Company with the Best Management Procedures, and the Highest Revenue.

VTC Intercom won two of the three awards in the fields of digital content: the Most Outstanding Provider of Digital Contents and the Digital Content Provider with the Highest Income.

The HCM City People’s Committee was presented the local state agency that applies IT the most effectively. The General Department of Customs took the central state agency that uses IT the most effectively. Techcombank and the Binh Dinh Lottery Company received the awards for Big and Small and Medium Enterprises that apply IT usefully.

The Vietnam ICT Awards is first-ever national ICT awards in the country, which was presented for the first time by the Ministry of Information and Communications. It will become an annual event.
