At the conference, the science & technology activities at district level in 2009 evaluated by Department of Science & Technology have reached remarkable changes on quantity and quality in Standard – Measurement – Quality mission; Carrying out application of science & technology advances and taking results of project into the life such as: Lightning-resistant project in Xuyen Moc and Dat Do, installing solar generator in Con Dao; safe vegetables in Tan Hai; improving propaganda of science & technology at electronic information stations etc has some results as follows:

Standard – Measurement – Quality mission

Inspecting measure means of units in 2009 is implemented well. Many units in charge inspect means of measurement many times with great quantity such as Vung Tau City, Ba Ria Town, Long Dien, Dat Do, Chau Duc Districts. Inspecting quality of packaged goods in 2009 is deeply implemented under many forms which prevents imitation, out-of-date goods in the market. Weighing stations reach high effectiveness such as 4 stations in Vung Tau City, 6 stations in Ba Ria, 4 stations in Tan Thanh, 5 stations in Xuyen Moc.

Science & Technology Information

10 Science & Technology electronic information stations at 10 communes maintain stable operation and effectiveness in providing information about production, breeding, vegetables growing models, new cultivation techniques, new races applied. However, majority of stations still face difficulties in posting advertisement of commune’s products on website.

Carrying out application of science & technology advances

Many project’s subjects have been applied to production, life of inhabitants, such as Viet GAP Standard in safe vegetables production in Tan Hai Commune - Tan Thanh District, irrigation system in Tan Thanh District, sewage treatment system in white pepper production at Tan Phuc Private Enterprise (Chau Duc), and especially building biogas bag model in Long Tan Commune (Dat Do) etc.

Up to now, there have been Science & Technology Boards at 7/8 districts, town and city, and strengthened according to organization of districts, besides meetings are organized to advise People’s Committee of districts/town/city to implement science & technology activities.

Almost districts, town, city are very good at propaganda of Technical Creation Contest 2008-2009 for enterprises, schools, medical centers, professional departments of districts/town/city.

Besides gained results, some weighing stations don’t promote their performance yet, science & technology board’s operation is still puzzled because there is not united instructions from Department of Science & Technology.

Experienced from achievement and limitation of science & technology activities in 2009 at district level, in plan 2010, Department of Science & Technology will improve such activities as follows: Building specific operation plan on manpower in charge, promotion of science & technology Board’s activities, Standard – Measurement – Quality, expanding more new information stations, applying results of scientific research subjects.
