PM Nguyen Tan Dung on January 10 urged the Ministry of Science and Technology to realize the target of making science and technology a springboard for socioeconomic development.

The PM said the science and technology sector should follow the national socioeconomic development missions, especially inflation curbing, macro-economy stabilization, maintaining the economic growth of some 6%, changing growth models, ensuring social security…

PM Nguyen Tan Dung requested the ministry to continue to create more favorable conditions for research and application of science and technology; technological renovation in production, enhancement of scientific and technological contents in products and services to serve economic restructuring, growth model renovation and sustainable development of the country.

The ministry should also pay due attention to accelerating basic research, investment in hi-tech zones and key labs, and continuing to support enterprises in researching technological renewal.

The PM required the ministry to develop technology market, science and technology services, especially information, consultancy, technology appraisal, intellectual property, measurement and quality criteria services.

The PM also asked the ministry to speed up application of technology, especially information technology and biotechnology in production sectors, particularly those turning out export items and essential goods for domestic consumption.

The ministry should also pay due attention to inspection, human resources training, international cooperation, preparations for technical infrastructure and manpower for nuclear power development./.
