Professor Ngo Bao Chau's talk on Science and Technology with students and intellectuals of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province

On August 7th, at the Conference Center of Ba Ria - Vung Tau (BR-VT) province, Prof. Ngo Bao Chau - Scientific Director of the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, Honorable President of the Scientist Links of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, along with Dr. Nguyen Van Luong - Director of the Titan Education in Ho Chi Minh city and Dr. Tran Nam Dung - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Pi Journal of the Vietnam Mathematical Society, gave a talkto equip students and intellectuals with knowledge and experience in study and research.

Leaders of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, Mr. Nguyen Hong Linh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council and Mr. Dang Minh Thong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee attended the event. The event also saw the presence of Mr. Mai Thanh Quang - Director of the Department of Science and Technology, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Giang - Director of the Department of Education and Training, and leaders of other Departments, as well as the presence of teachers and students in BR-VT province.

 

In the morning session, students and teachers raised many questions to Prof. Ngo Bao Chau about his pathway to mathematics and success, encouraging the passion for mathematics, opting for applied mathematics, mathematical study skills, applications of mathematics to practical and life problem solving. Replying to these questions, Prof. Ngo Bao Chau shared thatstudying math is a lonely job as he works independently most of the time. One of his secrets to success is the openness and knowledge sharing through books and notebooks or with colleagues and friends. It also helps him learn better once he faces difficulty in solvinga mathematical question or understanding a problem.

 

According to Prof. Ngo Bao Chau, the industrial revolution 4.0 with remarkable transformation of science and technology will create many opportunities and challenges for humanity including Vietnam. Therefore, students need to regularly access and acquire up-to-date knowledge, so that when graduating, they will apply science and technology to the provincial socio-economic development to increase the product value and contribute to the local and national sustainable development based on science and technology.

 

In the afternoon session, Prof. Ngo Bao Chau continued sharing knowledge and experience with the provincial intellectuals about scientific and technological study and research for provincial socio-economic development.
