The matic Report "Overview of smart agriculture 4.0 in the World and its applicability in Vietnam"

On the morning of July 17th, in Ba Ria city, the Center for Science and Technology Information and Statistics (DOST) held a workshop on "Overview of Smart agriculture 4.0 in the world and its applicability in Vietnam". The workshop saw the presence of Mr. Nguyen Kim Truong - Deputy Director of Department of Science and Technology; Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union; TS. Le Quy Kha - Vice Director of Institute of Agricultural Science for Southern Vietnam; Mr. Nguyen Duc Truong, General Director of Dai Thanh Joint Stock Company and Youth Union members and leaders, representatives of enterprise in agriculture sector in the province.

The workshop aims to provide youth union leaders in the province with knowledge of smart agriculture 4.0 which is trending in the world as well as in Vietnam and how it is helping production in agriculture becoming more and more effective.The workshop is a part of summer action plan by the province’s Youth Union.

 

According to Mr. Nguyen Kim Truong - Deputy Director of Department of Science and Technology in his opening speech, in May 2018, the Prime Minister promulgated Directive no. 16/CT-TTg on improving capacity to update to the fourth industrial revolution which is happening around the world. Since then, all ministries and local governments have been active in approaching achievements and applications of the forth industrial revolution in all fields. In Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province, there has been several initiatives by different approaches. The province has organized more than10 workshops on application of the 4.0 industrial revolution in all fields for socio-economic development and security and defense. The work has paid special attention to the revolutionary application of the Internet of Thing (IoT) in agriculture to meet with requirement of the Project 4.0 of the provincial Party Committee on developing high tech agricultural until 2020 with vision to 2025.

 

 At the workshop, Dr. Le Quy Kha gave an overview of the industrial revolution 4.0 and models of agriculture 4.0 which have been implemented effectively. After that was a demonstration by Mr. Nguyen Duc Truongon agricultural equipment technologies, including Unmanned Aerial Equipment and Agricheck Technology Solutions –agriculture value chain information and control system.

 

It is well-known that industrial revolution of 4.0 tooks place with waves of technology booms in areas such as Big Data, artificial intelligence (AI), ... and the prominent Internet of Thing (IoT). However, even with many advantages in agriculture production, application of tech in agriculture in Vietnam is relatively limited comparing to other countries. Therefore, moving toward a smarter agricultural production is essential in today’s context.
