On May 29, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) organized an online conference of the Director of the Department of Science and Technology nationwide in 2020. Chairing the conference is Mr. Chu Ngoc Anh - Minister of Science and Technology, Mr. Pham Cong Tac - Vice Minister Ministry of Science and Technology and Mr. Nguyen Van Than - President of Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises. Attending the conference at the local bridges, there were leaders of the Department of Science and Technology and affiliated units in 63 provinces and centrally-run cities, together with representatives of associations and businesses nationwide.

At the bridge in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, there were the participation of Mr. Mai Thanh Quang - Director of Department of Science and Technology, Mr. Tran Duy Tam Thanh and Mr. Do Huu Hien - Deputy Director of Department of Science and Technology together with heads and deputy heads of specialise department as well as director of affiliated units.

The conference focuses on exchanging, discussing and implementing a number of supporting science and technology solutions to serve people and businesses to develop production and improve productivity and goods quality that contribute to the successful implement of local socio-economic development objectives; thoroughly grasping and organizing the implementation of Directive No. 01 / CT-BKHCN of April 21, 2020 of the Minister of Science and Technology on improving scientific and technological capacities to remove difficulties, promote economic growth and ensure social security and people's lives in the context of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

At the conference, after hearing the report related to the operation of Quality measurement standards, Intellectual property, supporting start-up innovation, supporting S&T enterprises, S&T and innovation solutions to mobilize investment resources for S&T, especially from enterprises, to thoroughly grasp and organize the implementation of Directive No. 01 / CT-BKHCN, ... are exchanges of leaders of provincial Departments of Science and Technology such as Quang Ninh, Phu Tho, Hanoi, Thanh Hoa, Ben Tre, Thai Nguyen, Ha Tinh, etc. In term of S&T activities and innovation in the local and making recommendations around issues such as: proposing the issuance of general guidelines for managing geographical indications; building a national traceability portal; proposing guidelines on criteria to identify innovative start-up businesses, more specific guidance for Decree 70 on management and use of assets through the implementation of S&T tasks using capital government,

Speaking at the conference's conclusion, Minister Chu Ngoc Anh highly appreciated the results of S&T activities in the whole country in recent years, the leaders of the Department of Science and Technology showed the advisory role to strengthen the position and role of S&T sector in localities. Especially in the difficult time of the recent Covid-19 pandemic, the science and technology sector has shown its important role at the front line. Regarding recommendations and proposals, Minister Chu Ngoc Anh said that the Ministry will continue to review and develop a roadmap to submit to the Government for consideration and revision of regulations and laws related to S&T chaired by the Ministry. Minister Chu Ngoc Anh also assigned the units under the Ministry of Science and Technology to have solutions to remove difficulties, create favorable conditions for S&T activities and innovation in the locality to develop in accordance with the Conclusion No. 50-KL/TW dated May 30, 2019 of the Secretariat on S&T development that supports industrialization and modernization in the context of socialist-oriented market economy and international integration.
