As part of the series of main activities of the event "Connecting supply - demand technology of Ba Ria - Vung Tau 2020" (Ba Ria - Vung Tau Techconnect 2020), on December 3, in Vung Tau City, Department of Application Technology Application and Development (Ministry of Science and Technology) in collaboration with the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province held a conference on "Local technology application and transfer activities in 2020".

Attending the conference were Mr. Tran Van Tung - Deputy Minister of Science and Technology; Mr. Ta Viet Dung - Director of Department of Technology Application and Development; Mr. Chu Thuc Dat - Deputy Director in charge of the Local Science and Technology Development Department; Mr. Mai Thanh Quang - Director of Department of Science and Technology of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, and leaders of departments, institutes of the Ministry of Science and Technology; representatives of the Departments of Science and Technology and centers implementing technology transfer functions in 63 provinces and cities nationwide.

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Mr. Mai Thanh Quang said that over the past years, the Party and State have always been interested in Science and Technology activities with a view to bringing science and technology becoming a key driving force for socio-economic development, with many guidelines and policies issued to promote technology application, transfer and innovation for businesses and organizations in local. In Ba Ria-Vung Tau, this task was also very interested and made great efforts in the management and administration with specific solutions to improve the capacity and level of science and technology for the organizations, businesses; strengthen close linkage between producers, businesses, localities and research units, supporting to promote technological innovation, applying technologies to serve production reality and life. In 2020, Ba Ria - Vung Tau was selected by the Ministry of Science and Technology as the locality to co-host important science and technology events, including today's conference. This is a very important and meaningful event for us to look back on the application and transfer of technology over the past time, thereby solving difficulties and problems as well as finding solutions to further accelerate in next time.

 At the conference, Mr. Ta Viet Dung reported a summary of technology application and transfer activities in the 2016-2020 period and operational directions for the period of 2021 - 2025. According to Mr. Ta Viet Dung, in 2020, with complicated and unpredictable changes in the Covid-19 epidemic situation, negatively affecting socio-economic development, the centers have actively focused on research and application along with technology transfer in the prevention and control of Covid-19 epidemics in localities. In general, the results of technology application and transfer in the past period had a high growth. Regarding the operational orientation of the period 2021-2025, it is important to focus on implementing the tasks of technology application and transfer to serve the state management; supporting enterprises in technology application and innovation.

At the conference, delegates also reported the results of the implementation of the capacity building investment project for the Center under the Prime Minister's Decision No. 317 / QD-TTg to 2020 and the orientation for the period of 2021- 2025; sharing good experiences in order to improve efficiency, promote link in applied research, technology transfer; promote activities of the Center for S&T research, application and information to bring S&T to practically serve production and life. They also propose solutions to promote the development of the S&T market, and the role of S&T Advanced Application Centers in the context of the 4.0 technology revolution; experiences in connecting the technology market with science and technology application research ...

The results achieved at the conference will contribute to strengthening the capacity and effectiveness of the Centers for Scientific and Technological Progress Application; centers for implementing local technology application and transfer functions, thereby finding optimal solutions, promoting technology application and transfer, especially in the context of global trade liberalization and the 4th industrial revolution. On this occasion, the Minister of Science and Technology also awarded 6 certificates to collectives who have had many achievements in technology application and transfer in the 2016-2020 period.
