At 8 a.m on January 12, Ocean Princess cruise ship brought 700 foreign tourists docked Sai Gon SITV International port (Tan Thanh district) safely. This is the first foreign visitor group who have visited Ba Ria-Vung Tau province in 2011 by sea.

VN to export 6 mln tons of rice in 2011 (14/01/2011)

Việt Nam expects to ship 6 million tons of rice in 2011 following recent forecast of possible difficulties in import markets, according to the Việt Nam Food Association (VFA).

According to the VFA, in 2011, Việt Nam’s rice export volume will depend on the rate of global rice inventory, rising prices of input, and the shifts in rice policy in import countries. 

VN to invest more on hi-tech development (14/01/2011)

Việt Nam will center on developing 4 hi-tech industries, namely information and communication technology (ICT), biotechnology, automatic technology and new material technology, according to a National Program.

The program, entitled “Developing High Technology Till 2020”, has been approved by the Government recently.

Under the program, the country by 2020 will have some 500 enterprises specializing in producing hi-tech products and supplying hi-tech services, and about 200 agricultural entities applied high technologies operating in key economic zones.

CPV Central Committee convenes 15th Plenum (10/01/2011)

The Communist Party of Việt Nam Central Committee (CPVCC), 10th tenure, convened its 15th Plenum on January 9 in Hà Nội. This is the last meeting of the 10th Central Committee.
The meeting will review and decide key issues, such as the supplementation of candidates for alternate members of the 11th CPVCC, introducing personnel  for the Presidium and the Secretariat of the 11th National Party Congress, and the 10th CPVCC’ Report on the personnel preparation for the 11th CPVCC
