Support 180 million VND for Havico to improve quality management system

On June 18th, Department of Science and Technology Ba Ria-Vung Tau held an Acceptance Council towards two projects "Improving quality management system on food safety in accordance with international standard BRC (BRITISH RETAIL CONSORTIUM) REV6-2011" and "Improve international quality management system ISO / IEC 17025:2005 at Hai Viet Joint Stock Company. Mr.Vuong Quang Can, Deputy Director of Department of Science and Technology Ba Ria-Vung Tau as chairman of Acceptance Council.

On June 18th, Department of Science and Technology Ba Ria-Vung Tau held an Acceptance Council towards two projects "Improving quality management system on food safety in accordance with international standard BRC (BRITISH RETAIL CONSORTIUM) REV6-2011" and "Improve international quality management system ISO / IEC 17025:2005 at Hai Viet Joint Stock Company. Mr.Vuong Quang Can, Deputy Director of Department of Science and Technology Ba Ria-Vung Tau as chairman of Acceptance Council.

 

Hai Viet Co., Ltd (Havico) is an enterprise specializing in producing and processing export seafood, production of refined products, eat immediately as sushi, sashimi etc. Havico is leading seafood processing companies in Ba Ria - Vung Tau and in the top 20 of seafood enterprises in Vietnam.

Project "Improving quality management system and food safety in accordance with international standard BRC (BRITISH RETAIL CONSORTIUM) REV6-2011 in Hai Viet Joint Stock Company" by Nguyen Thi Minh Giang as project leader.

 BRC is an international standard recognition applied to food manufacturers for the purpose of assisting manufacturers to create products safely.

 To comply with this standard, company sets up a recognition system to avoid product recalls, combined with a number of elements necessary to assert "moral responsibility" and be assured when the company will be registered in database used by many global retail corporations to evaluate and select suppliers.

Intertek is a certification organization accredited by the British Accreditation Council UKAS for all activities providing assessment services BRC Food Safety - version 6.

 Time to implement project is from March, 2013 to November, 2013 with total expenses 278,740,000  VND in which budget of science and technology supporting enterprise is 94,000,000 VND. Goal of project is to enhance food safety and food safety management system; achieve recognition and acceptance of UK retail community (EU accession); increase the confidence of customers and consumers for quality and safety of products, increase trust and loyalty of customers and consumers to the company; help companies demonstrate to customers towards brand name HAVICO safe and under control of the origin; open up new market with higher requirements for safety and quality with potential new customers.

According to the latest statistics of quarter 1-2014, percentage rate  of exports to the EU market has increased from 9:34% to 11.78% compared with 2013; EU customers rate also increased about 60% compared to 2013; increase of 21.74% compared with when the company implemented innovative projects BRC 6.2011; manufacturing output of quarter 1.2014 increased 17.2% compared to the same period in 2013; export increased by 38.43% compared with the same period in 2013.

 Acceptance Council also heard a report on project "Improving the quality management system ISO / IEC 17025:2005" at Hai Viet Joint Stock Company by Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa as project manager.

 ISO / IEC 17025 is an international standard for certification of ability and calibration laboratories, which plays a very important role in commerce, production development, product and customer protection. ISO / IEC 17025: 2005 General requirements for competence of testing laboratories and calibration, replace for the standard version released in 1999 has been applied to the 25000 laboratories worldwide where the activity test product samples and calibration of measuring equipment. However, influence of ISO / IEC 17025 is even greater than what numbers show because many countries considered application of this standard is a legal requirement. In Vietnam, there are more than 300 laboratories & calibration accredited by Accreditation Office VILAS

 Time to implement project is from June, 2013 to May, 2014, total expenses is 302,288,500 VND, in which science and technology programme supporting Havico is 86 million VND.

 Goal of project is to improve, optimize system, increasingly more suitable, not bulky; test cost savings to make up uniform and accurate results to help produce accurate assessment of product quality, avoid decided to give up good quality shipments and export bad quality shipments ; demonstrate to customers ability to provide product safety and stability to meet high requirements of our customers.

 Acceptance Council appreciated project achievements, and agreed to test two projects of Hai Viet JSC.
