On June 8th, a Scientific and technological Council meeting was held by the Department of Science and Technology  to evaluate the provincial research project "Developing the protocol for Pacific Oyster hatchery (Crassostrea gigas Thunberg, 1793)" in Vung Tau city. The project was led by Eng. Nguyen Van Manh (Economic Chamber of Vung Tau City People’s Committee) and Eng. Pham Minh Cong (Center for Application of Scientific and Technological progresses).

The goal of the project was to develop a aquaculture hatchery speficified for Pacific oysters with the scale of 2,000,000 seeds per batch and to complete Pacific Oyster hatchery techniques that are suitable to the local climatic conditions.

The project resulted in 137,500 level 1 oyster seeds which were provided to local oyster farmer in Long Son commune. Pacific oysters have faster growing rate than native oystesr, thus can become a potential product to bring higher economic value for farmers.

The council highly evaluated the practical performance of the model. The research project was graded as good and accepted for completion.
