On the morning of January 10, 1818, the Department of Science and Technology (S & T) organized the "The 2016-2017 Ba Ria- Vung Tau Innovative Idea Contest Award Ceremony". Attending the ceremony were Mr. Le Van Minh – Provincial Party Member, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union of BR-VT province, Ms. Nguyen Van Anh - Deputy Director of Budget Economy, People’s Council of BR-VT province. The event saw the presence of Mr. Mai Thanh Quang - Director of Department of Science and Technology - Head of Contest Organizer, together with leaders of departments, People's Committees of districts and cities; institutes, schools, enterprises; Members of the Organizing Committee and Secretariat Committee and authors of winning prizes.

Mr. Mai Thanh Quang- Director of Department of Science and Technology, Head of Organization Committee launched the event. As reported by Mr. Quang, during the contest, a total of 390 ideas were received, 26 ideas were selected, including 1 first prize, 3 second prizes, 9 third prizes and 13 encouraging prizes. Mr. Mai Thanh Quang highly appreciated the success of this contest, especially the enthusiastic participation of many individuals, organizations and schools in the province. Many of the ideas will be selected to be funded for implementation as science and technology project

Winning prizes were evaluated based on criteria such as innovation and practicability in solving critical issues, such as environmental pollution, traffic safety, food poisoning, lack of capacity in tourism development and management and administrative reform. Winner of the first prize was Vu Van Dao, Director of the Vietnam - Czech Technology Joint Stock Company with the solution "Development of ecotourism on Ba Ngoi Beach, Vung Tau City". The project was highly evaluated due to its innovative features and potential to bring social and economic benefit to the region such as helping protect environment and ecosystem, creating a new tourism destination for the province.
