BR-VT Province: Receiving and working with the French expert delegation about Oceanographic Zone

On the afternoon of April 11, 2019, People's Committee of BR-VT province held a meeting and worked with the delegation of French Oceanographic experts headed by Mr. Michel Morvan - President of the Bretagne Occidentale Marine Institute of France . To welcome the delegation, on the side of the BR-VT People's Committee, there were Mr. Le Tuan Quoc and Mr. Tran Van Tuan - Vice Chairman of the BR-VT People's Committee, on the side of the Department of Science and Technology, there was Mr. Mai Thanh Quang - Director of the Department of Science and Technology, and representatives of the leaders of departments and agencies in the province.

On behalf of the Department of Science and Technology, Mr. Mai Thanh Quang reported the survey results on the Oceanographic Zone project and the contents that the delegation surveyed and worked in the province.

At the meeting, Mr. Michel Morvan said, through the actual survey, the expected location and area of ​​the Oceanographic project is suitable. The delegation also studied and proposed design plans, functions, layout of spaces, layout of houses and issues that need to be noted in the process of designing and building the Oceanographic Zone. The experts suggested that the project should design an area to nurture temporary creatures, to organize seminars, to play movies and to conduct educational activities; an area should be dedicated to scientific research and creatives in the field of oceanography; another area should be used for sightseeing activities that would have the role on education for visitors about ecosystem of mangrove forests and biodiversity conservation. The delegation also highly appreciated the collection of marine creatures as expected by the Department of Science and Technology; however, it is necessary to exhibit marine creature specimens and educational, recreational and scientific tools for visitors as well as to prioritize quality and the throughout connections in the selection of these specimens.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the BR-VT People's Committee, Mr.  Le Tuan Quoc thanked and received the comments of the expert delegation and agreed to add the display topics outside the oceanographic topics, in which focus on the strengths of the province. At the same time, the Vice Chairman said, the Oceanographic Zone is a big project of the province, so the province will divide this project into 03 component projects including: training project, equipment procurement project and construction project; divergent implementation of the scheme, projects in each stage and will regularly consult with the French expert delegation during the implementation process.

At this meeting, the two sides also agreed on the cooperation contents including training and guiding personnel relating to technical operation; manipulating marine creature specimens; consulting equipment, fish tanks, technical installations, etc…

At the end of the meeting, the representative of the BR-VT People's Committee presented a souvenir to the French Oceanographic expert delegation.
