On the morning of April 12, 2024, the Department of Science and Technology of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province organized an Advisory Council to evaluate and accept the results of the pilot project "Building models of conversion - intensive cultivation of some effective crops in Tan Lam commune, Xuyen Moc district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province". The topic is chaired by Dr. Mai Van Tri. The Southeast Fruit Research Center is the host agency. Attending the Council was Mr. Tran Duy Tam Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, Chairman of the Council.

It is known that Tan Lam commune (Xuyen Moc district) has a total agricultural land area of more than 2,000 hectares, accounting for about 26% of the commune's natural area. The terrain is relatively flat, suitable for growing many types of perennial crops such as pepper, rubber, grapefruit, longan, etc. In recent years, the prices of some agricultural products have been unstable, some old rubber gardens have been poorly cared for, so the cultivation efficiency is very low. Gardeners have areas of plants with serious diseases. Fruit trees such as grapefruit and longan are not really stable and are not uniform in quality. Growers pay little attention to care and pest control. This seriously reduced the yield. Therefore, converting some ineffective crops, low productivity and economic efficiency to some crops with higher economic value and adapted to local weather conditions is very important. Therefore, the implementation of this project is very necessary for gardeners in Tan Lam commune (Xuyen Moc district) in particular and for Ba Ria-Vung Tau province in general.

After 36 months of development and implementation, the project has achieved many results including:

+ Completing 03 processes: Process of planting and caring for Da xanh grapefruit intercropped with guava; Process of planting and caring for Edor longan; Process of planting and caring for pepper.

+ Building a "New model of planting Da xanh Grapefruit intercropped with guava with an area of 1 hectare at a household in Tan Lam commune"

+ Building a "New Edor longan planting model" with an area of 0.5 ha at a household in Tan Lam commune.

+ Building “Edor longan intensive farming model in the business phase” with an area of 1 ha at 2 households in Tan Lam commune

+ Building “Pepper intensive farming model in the business phase” with an area of 2 ha at 2 households in Tan Lam commune

With the achieved results, the Council has unanimously accepted the project. However, the project needs to be revised and completed according to the suggestions of the council members.
