On January 25, 2010 Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety (VARANS), in collaboration with the National Nuclear Security Administration of U.S. Department of Energy (DoE/NNSA) and the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO), held the Workshop on Physical Protection and Security Plan at Hanoi. VARANS Director General (DG) Dr. Ngo Dang Nhan addressed the opening ceremony.

Participants in the Workshop are officials, inspectors, medical doctors, engineers from VARANS, Departments of Science and Technology (DoST), hospitals and irradiation facilities throughout the country. The Southeast Asian Regional Radiological Security Partnership (RRSP) includes experts from NNSA and ANSTO, and is lead by Mr. Allan Murray - Regional Security of Radioactive Sources  (RSRS) Project Leader.

DG Ngo Dang Nhan, in his opening speech, expressed his appreciation to the support of NNSA and ANSTO to Vietnam in building the regulatory documents, emergency response plan, training, aiding equipments for ensure source security at facilities. He emphasized this workshop is held as one of that significant results. He also expected to further strengthen the cooperation between VARANS, NNSA and ANSTO and wished the Worshop successful. 

The Workshop will be took place during one week (25 – 29 Jan, 2010). In the framework of this Workshop, the RRSP will work with VARANS for arrangement for RRSP Review Meeting, Dalat from 9 to 11 March, 2010.
