On June 17, 2011, the Provincially Science Committee organized a meeting to consider and approve the project: “Test production of commercial-scale freshwater crab in field ponds in Ba ria – Vung tau Province, by Eng. Nguyễn Thị Dáng (Ba ria – Vung tau Famers’ Union).

On June 17, 2011, the Provincially Science Committee organized a meeting to consider and approve the project: “Test production of commercial-scale freshwater crab in field ponds in Ba ria – Vung tau Province, by Eng. Nguyễn Thị Dáng (Ba ria – Vung tau Famers’ Union).

The project aims at constructing, improving and boosting the process of the commercial-scale freshwater crab in field ponds in Ba ria – Vung tau Province contributing to diversifying products of aquaculture, giving a job to farmers at leisure after harvest time, increasing their income to improve the standard of living, as well as creating more opportunities   to provide consumers with nutritious and safe food.

The Committee considered that if the project is carried out successfully, it will be applied in large scale in practice, especially in rice cultivation areas in Ba ria – Vung tau. Based on the findings of the commercial-scale freshwater crab hatching, it could be applied in various aquatic environments to extend these activities, such as application in rice paddies and/or associated with developing other aquatic species. The Committee also asked the author to correct the objectives and rearrange the content of the project. Besides, the title of the project is supposed to change as follows: “Commercial-scale freshwater crab in field ponds and rice paddies in Dat do District, Ba ria – Vung tau Province”.
