On August 23, 2012, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Department of Science and Technology hold a meeting to approve project: “Research factors affecting water quality in Da Den Lake and propose solutions to synthetic management”. Two projects participates for approval, one is of B.A Le Viet Thang and Dr. Nguyen Hong Quan – THUDAUMOT University. Another is of Dr.Nguyen Thi Ha - Ba Ria Vung Tau University.

Ba Ria – Vung Tau province is assessed to be poor in water resource. Underground water is salted and overexploited in many places for domestic and industrial activities. Annually, water scarce and lack is happening in many local areas, especially in dry season. Hence, surface water plays a key role in supplying for the whole province. Protection and sustainable management of provincial surface water resource is becoming urgently due to increasing effect of climate change and rising sea level.

Da Den is a big water containing lake of Ba Ria - Vung Tau after Song Ray Lake. The project supplies domestic, industrial, production, irrigating water for districts like Chau Thanh, Tan Thanh, Vung Tau City, Xuyen Moc.  Currently, Da Den Lake seems to be polluted meanwhile its self-cleaning possibility is not high. Therefore, one of key objectives of project is to identify natural and man-made factors affecting water quality in Da Den Lake like industry production activities.
Researching factors affecting water quality in Da Den Lake and proposing synthetic management methods (together with pollution level assessment of water resource, change in chemical-physical factors) as to permission standards for domestic water can identify factors. From these results, proposing solutions to reduce pollution, raising water quality in order to assure domestic water for local people and other activities.

The Council agrees to select project by B.A Le Viet Thang and Dr.Nguyen Hong Quan – THUDAUMOT University for approval and performance. However, some points of projects need to be changed.
