Subject approval “History of managing and deploying sea and island of Ba Ria – Vung Tau in the 20th century”

On July 5th, 2013, Department of Science & Technology held a Scientific Council to approve the subject “History of managing and deploying sea and island of Ba Ria – Vung Tau in the 20th century” headed by Dr. Phạm Ngọc Trâm (Hochiminh University of Society Science & Human Culture).

The coastal length of Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province is 305 km, with big potential of the Country on development of oil & gas, seafood, tourism, maritime transportation etc. Until now, maritime economy of Ba Ria – Vung Tau has remarkable changes, the Ba Ria – Vung Tau has focused restructuring sea profession, speeding up converting the vocation in accordance with big shipbuilding, engineering, promoting equipment and applying new technology to expand deployment; strong economic and social development of the coast, island etc.

History of managing and deploying the coast of Ba Ria-Vung Tau in the 20th century helps to restructure the process of managing and deploying the sea and island in the historical time. Then, summarize and evaluate achievements and limits of the process of managing and deploying the coast; besides, learning experiences and proposing some measures to enhance the management and deployment of the sea and coast of Ba Ria – Vung Tau in the process of Industrialization – Modernization. It also contributes to improve awareness of people on deploying, using and protecting the coast better.
