On April 22, 2021, the Department
of Science and Technology held an Advisory Council to evaluate and accept the
results of the project "Selecting an application model to restore hard
corals at Ramsar Site Con Dao National Park” by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Vo Si Tuan is
the director, Con Dao National Park Management Board is the agency in charge of implementation from
May 2018 to April 2021. Mr. Nguyen Cong Danh - Director of Department of
Science and Technology is the Chairman of the Council.
The main objectives of the project is to assess the resilience and management of coral reefs at Ramsar Site Con Dao National Park on the basis of analyzing the current status of coral reefs and applying restoration techniques. In addition, the project builds a model of coral reef restoration in Ramsar Site Con Dao National Park and managing coral reefs ecosystems in order to regenerate aquatic resources, protect the environment and serve marine eco-tourism.
On behalf of the unit in charge of implementation, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Vo Si Tuan briefly reported the implementation processes and achieved results of the project such as techniques for restoration, relocation and immobilization of corals, results obtained after applying these techniques and benefits of hard coral restoration.
The Council evaluates that the project meets the requirements, but it needs to be supplemented according to the Council's comments.
