Su Tu Den platform expects first oil in May 2010 (21/04/2010)

According to Petroleum Technical Services Corporation (PTSC), at present, PTSC Mechanical & Construction Company (PTSC M & C) and PTSC Offshore Services (POS) are promptly implementing the connection and trial run for the Su Tu Den platform (Black Lion). The oil rig expects to give the first oil in late May 2010.

Construction of a 25km ethane gas pipeline (06/04/2010)

In the morning of 25 March, the Ba Ria – Vung Tau People"s Committee had a meeting with PetroVietnam Gas Corporation (PVGas) on building a 25 km- long ethane gas pipeline from the Dinh Co Gas Processing Plant to the LongSon Petrochemical complex (Long Son commune, Vung Tau City). Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Minh Sanh presided over the working session.

According to the leaders of Nam Con Son Gas Pipeline Company, the Government approved the adjustment on the development plan of Vietnam oil and gas industry in the period to 2015, and direction to 2025, including putting the 2nd Nam Con Son gas pipeline to into operation by 2014.

VN"s agricultural sector to go hi-tech (10/03/2010)

Viet Nam is set to phase out small-scale agriculture through the introduction of new technologies to agriculture that are expected to result in higher yields and more competitive farm produce.

The plan, part of a newly approved Government scheme to industrialise the agriculture sector, has targeted an annual growth rate for the sector of more than 3.5 per cent up until 2020 – it currently stands at 3.2.
The Government is heralding hi-tech farming as the path to reaching these targets while ensuring national food security in both the short and long terms. Total value of produce from the high-tech sub-sector has been targeted to reach 10-15 per cent of total agriculture production in the next five years, and 30-35 per cent by 2020.
