On June 27^th, Department of Science & Technology Ba Ria-Vung Tau heard a report of project “Project on missions of acute gene sources protection of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province in period 2014-2020”. Time to implement is from 2014-2020. Its expenses is about 11 billion VND. Center for Application  of Science & Technology Progress under Department of Science and Technology Ba Ria-Vung Tau is directly assigned to hold and implement      it.

Goal of project is to investigate, survey, study and collect precious, rare gene sources, economical valuable in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province with purpose of conservation, exploitation and sustainable development; create a scientific basis for conservation, exploration and development of precious gene resources, rare, socio-economic valuable, medical, security, defense, science and the environment; providing gene resources needed for the breeding, breeding a new race threatened with extinction according to assessment of national and international recognition; simultaneously participating gene fund.

Expected results of project will save and preserve precious gene resources and gene resources documentation.

- On storage, preservation of gene sources include: 13 precious, rare gene sources, economical value; conservation, exploitation and development of gene tank Crab; survey and evaluate current situation of 11 precious fishes at the sea; investigate, survey and build database of gene sources and ability to use 13 fish kinds with high economic value; investigate, survey and collect 1 gene source of rare forest species; investigate, survey and collect 65 gene sources of 4 fruit trees.  

- Gene source documentation: Key industrial plants locally (pepper tree in BR-VT); documentation, information transfer group 02 microbial genetic resources and useful for cultivation. Research and development of intensive farming areas of tree species, the rare animal in danger of extinction; important microorganisms to serve economic - social, health, national defense - security, science and environment; conservation and development of gene resources of 01 species of seaweed; conservation of gene resources under biological characteristics of each object, close protection of gene resources and investigate distribution of species.
