Running the second phase of Cai Mep Port by Dec 2010 (21/10/2010)
According to Mr. Tran Khanh Sinh – Director of Tan Cang Cai Mep port, its construction is being executed the 2nd phase with 600 meters quay which can received 2 ships (whose capacity is from 80.000 to 100.000 DWT) at the same time and 40 hectares container ground. The second phase of construction will be finished and run by Dec 2010.

GE opens wind-turbine plant (19/10/2010)
In response to growing global demand for clean energy, General Electric officially inaugurated its first manufacturing facility in the northern port city of Hai Phong yesterday.
The factory, which has a total investment of more than US$61 million, will manufacture wind turbine components. Parts will be shipped to GE wind turbine manufacturing factories worldwide.

Ministry of Agriculture says will cultivate GM corn en masse in 2011 (11/10/2010)
Vietnam will cultivate genetically-modified corn en masse from next year after successful trial cultivation, said Deputy Minister of Agriculture Bui Ba Bong at a conference on Tuesday in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province. Bong said that in comparison with regional countries, “Vietnam has taken a step ahead in preparation for developing GM crops, especially GM corn. The country has accomplished short-term experiments and is now ready for long-term experiments from 2011.”

Viet Nam will have up to 10,000 businesses that participate in application of modern science and technology achievements by 2015 if an action programme by the Government succeeds.
The programme, initiated by the Ministry of Science and Technology, seeks to create an impetus for the development of science and technology in upcoming years.
