On 11 January 2011 at the Headquarters of the Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety (VARANS), Director General Ngo Dang Nhan received experts from the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), US. Department of Energy under the framework of BOA project. Two parties reviewed activities of BOA project in the last year and discussed detailed plan for 2011.

In the last year, with support from US, VARANS coordinated to implement installation of security system at the Dalat Nuclear Research Institute, Institute for Nuclear Science and Technology, National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and Thaison Company. Warranty and maintenance plan at 14 facilities that were already installed security system was ensured; safety culture was increased; many national and regional workshops were organized. At the working day, two parties also discussed to strengthen security for facilities that use radioactive sources in B group in 2011.

Director General Ngo Dang Nhan appreciated results achieved under the BOA project contributing to strengthen use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes in Vietnam. He also expressed his sincere thanks to DOE experts and desire that project will obtain better results in 2011.
