On June 22, Department of Science and Technology organized a ReviewCommittee to evaluate thepilot project Design, manufacturing and installation of the automatic system for measuring, analyzing, monitoring and early warning of water quality in aquaculture farms at Cha Va River, Ba Ria Vung Tau Province". Chairman of the committee is Mr. Nguyen Kim Truong–Deputy Director of Department of Science and Technology. The project is led by Dr Le Ngoc Tran, director of Marine Economics Instituteand hosted by Ba Ria - Vung Tau University.

The project is to design, manufacture and install a system for automatic measurement, analysis and early warning of water quality (for criterias: temperature, salt concentration, dissolved oxygen, pH, chlorine level in water) in cages used in aquaculture farms at Cha Va and Long Son communes in BR-VT. The project has the following objectives: to establish and improve installation process for such water monitoring and early warning system at aquaculture farms; to complete software, server and programming needed for measurement, data collection, of the warning and control system;  to ensure the accuracy of measuring equipmentscomparing to government quick testing devices; to ensure fast and stable control and efficient power consumption of the transmission system; to develop operation guidances and organize workshop for operation of the monitoring system in cages aquaculture for farmers.

In Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, aquaculture on Cha Va River (Long Son Commune, VT) has rapidly expanded. However, water quality is not monitered and controlled, increasing risk of severe damage to farms. Facing such urgent need, the Fisheries Sub-Department and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development identified the need to develop a system for automatic sampling, measurement, analysis, evaluation and early warning of water quality in aquaculture. The system will help farmers stabilize production, reduce risk of losses as well as help authorities to plan aquaculture strategy of the province in the long term.

The committee evaluated that the research project satisfies acceptance requirements. However, before implemention, some neccessaryimprovements need to be made as recommended by the review committee.
