Project checked-up: Study and develop a type of MICE tourist in Ba Ria-Vung Tau (21/06/2008)

In  April, 2008, the Provincial Science Council held a workshop to checked – up a project called: “study and develop a type of MICE tourist in Ba Ria – Vung Tau”. This project was headed by PhD Phung Duc Vinh, the Vice Rector of the Tourist College. Taken part in the workshop was Vice President of the PPC, Mr. Ho Van Nien.

In April 29, 2008, the DOST held a training course called “State management on activities about Science Study and Technology Development”. Taken part in the training course were: the Director of the DOST, Dr. Truong Thanh Cong; representatives of sectors and departments  in the communes and province; members of the PSC; cadres who manage science and technology in communes; representatives from organizations who lead the projects in the province, etc.

23% Vietnamese surf Internet (19/06/2008)

VietNamNet Bridge – By the end of May 2008, Vietnam’s average teledensity was 67 phones per 100 residents. The total number of phone subscribers was 58 million. The country also had 6 million Internet subscribers, equivalent to 19.5 million Internet users, reaching a ratio of 23% of the population.

Japan ’s NEC Solutions joins with Vietnamese software producer (13/06/2008)

NEC Solutions Vietnam Co merged with Sang Tao Corporation, the first between a Japanese company and a Vietnamese company in the IT sector.

The Japanese-invested software firm said the merger would help the two firms better utilize labour forces, improve business efficiency, eliminate duplication of administrative expenses and curb the leakage of technologies.

Illegal PC Software Use Down 3 Percent in 2007 (11/06/2008)

Piracy of software on personal computers (PC) in Vietnam fell from 88 percent in 2006 to 85 percent in 2007, amid a global trend in which piracy rates dropped in most countries. The study showed that Vietnam had the biggest sofware piracy rate decrease in the Asia Pacific region. However, losses more than doubled from the previous year to US$200 million, largely due to the high PC growth rate and currency exchange movements.

Introducing the project of electronic information portal of Vietnam Union of S&T Associations (VUSTA) (10/06/2008)

To prepare for the deployment of the electronic information portal project, in April 4th 2008, the Vietnam Union of S&T Associations had organised a conference for introducing the project to relevant units. The contents of the conference being focused on introducing the portal technology, on sharing experiences from some units having built and used the portal.
