Vietnam ranks 73rd of 127 economies in the Global Information Technology Report 2007-2008 released by the World Economic Forum (WEF) on April 9, 10 grades up compared with the ranking a year earlier.
Network Security: A Persistent Problem (02/04/2008)
Network security is a major concern in every country in this age of digital technology and last year was one in which many problems came to light. When 1,400 companies around the world were questioned by McAfee (working with Datamonitor), it was found that 67 percent of companies had lost private data with corresponding negative repercussions and 33 percent have had privacy invasions that could result in their "closing the door".
On August 17, an inspection delegation held by the DoST checked the progress of a project, namely "Scaling up the model of electronic information serving for BR-VT socio-economic development " . The project has been chaired by Eng. Nguyen Kim Truong, the Director of Center of Informatics and S&T Information and carried out during 15 months (from December 2006 to February 2008).

In January the first, Provincial Science Council held a meeting to check-up a project called “Study to design and improve 110cc motorbikes into three-wheel motorbikes which use gas for collecting and transporting solid waste of inhabitant in BR-VT”, which is chaired by Dr. Truong Thanh Cong, Director of the DoST. This project has been headed by En. Le Minh Hai – Dong Minh Gas Co. Ltd.
