On August 12th, at DIC hotel (Vung Tau city), the National Agency in Southern Region, an agency under the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) held a conference in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province, named “Solutions to enhance the role of science and technology Programs in the socio-economic development of the Southern Region”. Mr. Pham Dai Duong, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology and Mr. Dang Minh Thong – Vice Chair of Provincial People’s Committee of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province.
On August 18th, the Department of Science and Technology held an advisory council to select organizations and individuals to implement the project "Investigating the current status of valuable medicinal plants in BR-VT with the aim of use management, conservation and sustainable development". Mr. Mai Thanh Quang - Director of the Department of Science and technology chaired the Council.
On August 5th, the Department of Science and Technology held a committee to select project leader and organization to implement the research “Study Ba Ria – Vung Tau young companies’ performance during 2010-2015 and propose solutions to improve entrepreneurial performance”. The committee is chaired by Assistant Professor PhD. Mai Thanh Phong – Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (UCMUT) and Director of HCMUT - Technology Business Incubator.

On July 22nd, the Department of Science and Technology of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province held an advisory Council to select organizations and individuals to implement the social science and humanities project, named "Excavate, research and propose conservation solutions for the White stone ring Fortress archaeological site (Vong thanh da trang) in Xuyen Moc district”. Dr. Bui Chi Hoang - Institute of Social Sciences was selected to implement the project.
On July 28th, the Department of Science and Technology held an advisory Council in selecting organization and individual to implement the project "Establish, develop and promote a collective mark for Vung Tau yellowstripe scads".

Vietnam’s technology group Bkav warned on August 8 that the malware that recently attacked the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines is also hidden in the websites of government agencies, corporations, banks, research institutes and universities.
From 20th to 22nd July, at the Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province, the Department of Science and Technology conducted a training on "Awareness and internal assessment of Quality Management System in accordance with National Standard TCVN ISO 9001: 2008 for state administrative bodies" – Phase 2. Over 60 executives from state administrative bodies of communes, wards, towns and districts in Ba Ria – Vung Tau attended the training course.

This two-day training course was delivered by Mr. Dao Duy Truong - Chief Consultant of management systems.
